Meet Info

THE REDONDO NIKE 2014 TRACK FESTIVAL IS FULL.

MEET SCHEDULE: Click here for the detailed and final meet schedule that we will post the week of the meet once we get the entries processed.

MEET PROGRAM: Click here for the complete meet program with all entries the week of the meet after all of the entries have been processed. We will not provide teams with programs  at the meet, so please copy this off for you and your team.

The meet will begin at approximately 4:00 pm on Friday night with the distance carnival and the throws competition and 9:00 am on Saturday. Any last minute adjustments will not be in the program but in the EPI meet day file.

We do not want open lanes. We will ask that all scratches be turned in by March 1st, 2014. Please make sure your athletes report on time.  We are running a pretty tight schedule. They need to check in to the clerk no later than 45 minutes before their scheduled start time. The clerk of the course will be on the infield on Friday night and on the warm up field located to the south of the track on Saturday.

TIME SCHEDULE: The time schedule is approximate, but we do make every effort to stay on schedule, and we usually are right on schedule throughout the day. All races will go as quickly as possible. Keep your eye on the races being run to tell your athletes whether or not we are ahead or behind of the posted time schedule. We will announce as often as possible where we are in the time schedule. Time schedule will be made available after all entries have been processed. Check back here for it the week of the meet.

DIRECTIONS: Redondo Union High School is located at 1 Sea Hawk Way, Redondo Beach, CA 90277 between Prospect Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway. The track entrance for spectators is located on the Vincent Street side of the school. The entrance for teams and coaches is on the northeast side of the track. Parking will be available in the east parking lot off Sea Hawk Way/Diamond Street. Team entrance will be in the same parking lot. All school buses will drop off in the Diamond Street parking lot and be given specific directions on where to park during the meet. For a Google Map of the school and to get directions, click here.

RESULTS: Finished Results will be using the Finish/Lynx timing system for the meet. We will be printing results as the meet moves along. We will post a copy of each result on the finish results board near the south snack bar area. Complete results of every finisher in every heat will be posted on the PrepCalTrack.com website throughout the day as well as on the Finished Results website. Friday Distance and Throws Carnival recap and results can be found on PrepCalTrack.com.

FACILITY: The nine lane synthetic state-of-the-art track and field facilities are BRAND new. Only 3/16” spikes will be allowed on the track. The adjacent warm up field is synthetic as well. Click here for pictures of the new venue. NO FOOD OR DRINK WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE TRACK OR WARM UP FIELD AREAS.

SPIKES: Spikes must be 3/16” or less. The spikes will be checked upon entry. We will have spikes for sale at both entrances.

Batons: Provide your own batons.

PHOTOS: Results and photos will be posted here after the meet: PrepCalTrack.com.

AWARDS: Medals will be given directly to the athletes immediately following each race for all heats and flights. There will be special awards for the Championship heat/flight winners. Championship event top three finishers will be presented to the South stands with a podium presentation.

“Redondo Nike Champion” backpacks will be awarded to the winners of all varsity championship events.

The number of awards given in each event will be as follows:
All Events: Top 3
Currently we will be presenting approximately 1,600 medals.
There will also be a team championship trophy for the Distance Carnival and the Throws Competition for the Varsity divisions and a team championship trophy for the Invitational day for both the Varsity and Frosh/Soph divisions. All awards will be given out on the infield.

Team Check-in: Coaches will be given ID wristbands and the head coaches will receive one full access field badge. In the event of a team with two head coaches, we will give out two full access field passes. On Friday night, all coaches will be allowed to go on the infield regardless of whether they have a pass or not. On Saturday, this access will be limited to coaches with a field pass only. This is a large meet and we need to keep the infield as clear as possible. The stadium is the property of our school district and does not allow food or beverages, except water, to be brought into the facilities. We do not care about kids bringing snacks to the meet, Powerbars, granola bars etc in their bags. They just to do not want coolers filled with items besides water. There will be no food or drink allowed on the infield or warm up field!

PARKING: A parking lot is located on Sea Hawk Way/Diamond Street on the north side of the school but space is limited. Street parking is located on and around Vincent Street, Sea Hawk Way and the adjacent streets to these. ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE STADIUM ON THE SOUTH IS PERMIT PARKING ONLY. DO NOT PARK THERE. YOU WILL BE TICKETED.

BUS DROP OFF AND PARKING: Bus drop off is located on Sea Hawk Way/Diamond Street parking lot on the north side of the track. There will be a blocked off bus only location to drop off the athletes. Bus drivers will be directed to park the bus at the nearby West Torrance High School, located a mile away. Directions will be given to the bus driver upon drop off.

WARM UP AND TENT SET UP:

Friday night: Tents will be allowed anywhere on the north (Visitor) stands. Due to the shortage of space for tents we are allowing tents to be set up anywhere not just along the top row.  On the South stands (main stands) we ask that you do NOT set up tents. Even along the top it blocks the view of the handicap seating. Please be respectful of other teams and understand that there may not always be prefect track visibility from the athletes (North) stands. Athletes and coaches may sit on the homestretch (South) seating. Please do not set up tents on the warm-up field Friday night. The discus events will be contested and there simply is not enough room for tents.
Saturday: Tents are to be set up in the North stands OR on the warm-up field along the perimeter. There will not be any tent set up in the South stands Friday or Saturday.

Coaches Hospitality Suite:
North of the track in the Field House is the Coaches Hospitality Suite. There will be food, drinks and snacks provided during the meet. This will be a heated room with comfortable seating available to all coaches with wristbands. Nike representatives will be present with any informational needs you may have about uniforms or team needs. There is an attached questionnaire to fill out. VS Athletics will be present to share information regarding all track and field equipment needs.
